ONWARD, ROSE CITY
On March 9th, the Portland Timbers unveiled their first club championship banner in front of their home crowd and fervent supporters section, the Timbers Army. After singing the national anthem and unveiling their first tifo of the 2016 season, the Timbers Army got back to doing what they do best; singing, chanting and cheering their boys in green and gold as the season opener kicked off with a rematch against their 2015 title game opponents, the Columbus Crew. In the end, and through an arsenal of Pacific Northwest weather, Portland's mascot Timber Joey would slice off two pieces from this season's goal log as the Timbers proved victorious by a score of 2 - 1.
